Legend of Bagga Stone
Folklore from Central Sulawesi
ONCE upon a time in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, lived a man with his son in a hut.
The man’s name was Intobu and his son’s name was Impalak. Intobu’s wife passed away when Impalak was a baby.
Impalak was a diligent and obedient son. Intobu and Impalak were fishermen and they were poor. They did not have a big ship to go fishing. They only used a small sampan. They really wanted to have a big ship so they could have a lot of fish. The local people there named the big ship as bagga.
Impalak wanted to be rich. He asked permission from his father to leave him to fi nd better life. Though it was very diffi cult, his father let him go. Impalak promised to his father that he would come back after he was rich.
Impalak went to a port. He saw a bagga. He came to the owner and said, “May I join you to sail in your bagga? I will work hard, Sir,” said Impalak.
The owner agreed. He let Impalak join his bagga. Impalak was happy. His dream to be a rich man would soon come true.
Impalak worked very hard. The bagga’s owner was very happy with him. Impalak was also skillful in fi shing. After Impalak joined, they always got a lot of fish.
The bagga’s owner planned to ask Impalak to marry his daughter. So when they arrived in the bagga’s owner place, they held a wedding. Impalak’s dream really came true. He was a rich man and he had a big bagga!
Several years had passed, but Impalak never returned home. Sadly he already forgot his promise to his father.
In the mean time, Impalak’s father, Intobu, always thought of his son. Everyday he went to the port. Whenever a bagga came, he always looked for him. But he never found his son.
One day Impalak’s wife asked Impalak to sail in his bagga. Stormed attacked and it accidentally arrived in Impalak’s hometown.
Intobu saw a big bagga. He felt that Impalak was inside the bagga. And he was right! Impalak was there!
“Impalak? Impalak?“ said his father.
“I’m your father!”
“Who is that old man?” asked Impalak’s wife.
“I don’t know. Maybe he is just an old crazy man,” said Impalak.
Actually he recognized his father. But he was ashamed with his wife.
“Go away, you crazy man! You are not my father!” said Impalak.
“Impalak?. Wait for me!” Intobu rowed his sampan. He wanted to meet his son.
However, Impalak asked his crew to leave. They left Intobu.
Intobu was very sad. He knew Impalak had already forgotten him. He prayed to God to punish him.
Again storm attacked Impalak’s bagga. This time it was very hard. Finally the bagga was stranded. Slowly the bagga turned into a big stone. Until now the stone is still in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi. People named the stone as Bagga Stone.

Never Lose Hope
ReplyDeleteIntobu was very sad. He knew Impalak had already forgotten him. But Intobu was still be patient & keep loving. He also to knew that Impalak actually remember him. Intobu prayed to god hopefully Impalak immediately to realize about what did it’s wrong. Intobu stiil & standing hope & hope Implak will keep its promised. A few days later Intobu was sick , he was long suffered because of living alone and lonely waste everyday time.
Until finally the news reached the ears intobu. Unfortunately, Intobu standing does not mattern & he was not thinking his father. Intobu felt he was rich, he had everything & already has a happy life.
In the night, Impalak was dream about his father, he saw that his father was passed away. Intobu was scream loudy, he wake up with afraid & shocked. “What happened..?? Why you so scared ? “ asked Impalak’s wife. Then, Impalak told what a truly happened to his wife & bagga’s owner. They was suprised. Impalak realized if he made his wife and wife’s parents dissapointmen, but he wanted to said a truly fact about who his father & present state of his father. Bagga’s owner & his wife wanted Impalak to goes to his father and forgiving what he did for his father.
In the morning day, Impalak with his wife & bagga’s owner goes to Intobu’s hut. Impalak knocking on the door, on few minute but nothing replied from the hut. Intobu decided to directly enter the hut. Sadly, he saw his father was lay weak. “Impalak.. you still remember me..?” asked Intobu slowly. “Dad..Im sorry.. forgive me, forgive my mistake,” beg Impalak & he hug Intobu. Impalak state-weak, it also instantly get better when treated longing to see his son. Intobu aplogize & said he proud of Impalak, he really missing his son. Impalak thankful, because his prayers have been God anwsered.
Impalak’s wife & her father said sorry about the moment in the bagga and then they invited intobu to stay in their houses. At last they were return to house with Intobu. Impalak lived together with his father again, and they lived happily ever after..

ReplyDeleteOne day there was an old man who was alone in around sea. then the old man had fallen and no one helped him, Impalak remembered the father who lives alone in the house uninhabitable shacks. Then Impalak & Impalak Wife help the old man but God willed another old man passed away.
Impalak feel guilty for not being able to help the old man so that he passed away. Impalak feel guilty, then he returned to live with his father because he did not want to lose him.
Impalak and Impalak wife went to her father, he apologized for his mistakes are not acknowledged as parents. end they live happily.

His wife angry with Impalak because he did bad attitude to old man. “Why you angry with the old man? Your speak very coarse, said his wife”. “Because he excessive” Impalak answer. “But I’m never look you like that. I hate you and now we devorce”.
Hear that Imapalak very sad and regret. He want come back and forgive to her father. In the beach Intobu will killed her self. He was fall the sea. Before that Impalak prevent him. “father... No!! Don’t do that, I’m sorry regret”. Intobu was very happy hear that. He ask where is Impalak’s wife. Impalak cried and answer that his wife angry and hate him. In the middle of the sea, that curse was began. Back of his bagga already turned into the stone and spread to all of bagga’s part. Impalak ran into point of his bagga. Impalak shouted,
“Dad!! I’m sorry.. I’m sorry.. Dad! Forgive me please.. Help me! Help me!!”
Intobu was realized his curse. He took his small boat. He approached Impalak to middle of the sea. He saw all of Impalak’s crew and Impalak’s wife turned into the stone. But Impalak turned yet. Cause almost half of baggaturned into the stone, bagga began wrecked. Intobu ran ran and climb that bagga. After that Intobu pulled impalak from that bagga and jumped down into small boat. And then, they leave the wrecked bagga and back to the port.
When they arrived at port, Impalak apologized to his father. He grovel at his father ‘s feet. And he cry. Intobu’s heart was touched. Then, Intobu cried too. Intobu said to his son,
“Stand up my son, I’m forgive you. Sorry for my curse to you.”
Intobu embrached his son. Impalak promised to Intobu if he would guard and accompanied his father.

One day, Impalak and wife went to met his father, he came without knowledge his father. When his father was the rested, suddenly be present person knock on the door. Then his father awaken to opened the door. And he looked blank because which came was Impalak suddenly Impalak embraced his father and expelled eyedropper, he said “I very missed with father” his father answered “I missed you too Impalak.” And then Impalak said to his father, “father, be present which met with father.” “Who?” said his father. And then Impalak introduced his wife with his father. “This is mw wife, father, she was daughter’s employer.” Said Impalak. “Why didn’t given notice if you has married, and when you married?” answered the his father. “Sorry father, I didn’t could given notice father because at that time I very busy, so I didn’t could given notice father. And I married one month ago, I’am sorry father.” Said Impalak. “Yes my son, its okay, father knew.” Answered the his father. “I visiting here went to take father to stay with me and my wife” said Impalak. “no son, I have been comfortable living here, you just leave father, and lived with your wife there.” Replied his father. “no father, I wouldn’t leave father alone here” said Impalak.
Finally Impalak decided to stay with his father. And he also opened the business in his village, his business is growing rapidly, so they lived happily.

Impalak’s father called her. But, Impalak Impalak still unfamiliar with his father, after a while impalak considering it was his father. but Impalak embarrassed by the poor state of her father because in front of impalak there impalak’s wife. After impalak thinking and strengthen the heart, eventually impalak dared to hug his father and introduced him to his wife. the family of his wife were received with what it is to be deprived of her husband's family.

Intobu was very sad. He knew Impalak had already forgotten him. He prayed to God to punish Impalak, but he was pity with his son and canceled to punish Impalak. In the midst of sailing trips, Impalak’s wife gave him an advice that Intobu was his father and forever Intobu was his father and just his father he had. After that, Impalak was realize with all his mistakes then he talked to his wife that he wanted back to meet his father and he said he loved his father. Impalak and his wife back to the harbour and said to the his father that he was regret with all his mistakes, then Intobu apologize Impalak. They lived together and happily ever after.

ReplyDeleteAgain storm attacked Impalak’s bagga. This time it was very hard. the boat was knocked down by a big wave. impalak and his wife then flew away at the beach. and overnight they lost consciousness.
the next day when intobu want to catch fish in the sea, intobu surprised to find the bodies of her son and his wife. intobu not wait long for help fishermen around and bring them to the house intobu. intobu grateful for the two bodies were still alive. The first struck the wife of impalak. while waiting impalak conscious, daughter in law, she asked to talk about impalak intobu. how shocked she was to hear the fact that intobu father of impalak.
after impalak conscious, just his wife scolded him for not wanting to admit that intobu was her father. see the angry wife, impalak no less fury, he slapped her face and said that she should not interfere. then in the middle of their fight intobu came brought food, he told impalak to stay in bed and feed him a slurry. impalak heart sank to see what his father had done to him. impalak then hugged his father covered in tears. "Dad, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" said impalak. "it's okay, my rest" replied intobu.
intobu afternoon approached by several young men, they claimed that they were impalak crew. then impalak out of the house, the crew invites impalak to travel again. impalak then called his wife, and asked her father and invited them sailing together. and they happily ever after.

“Impalak?. Wait for me!” Into rowed his sampan. He wanted to meet his son.
Impalak's wife asks Impalak for remember his memories. Because when Impalak stranded, he suffered memory loss. "Maybe it's true he is your father, honey" said his wife. Impalak tried to remember, but his cannot remember anything.
Intobu approaching Impalak. “I'm your father Impalak..??” said Intobu with tears. “Do you remember you ever promised to me, you will come back if you rich?” said Intobu.
Suddenly Impalak felt pain in his head. Impalak's wife very confused. Intobu too worried.
“Impalak ? Impalak ? What happen?” said Intobu.
“I'm fine. I've been lying all this time. Actually I'm not lost my memories. I remember you, father. I sinned for you. I'm sorry. ”, said Impalak.
Impalak cry at hir father's feet. He regretted having ungodly of his father. Intobu also wept, he embraced Impalak lovingly. Impalak's wife who that witnessed that scene too tears. Impalak promise to Intobu, if he will not forget his father again. Intobu forgiven of Impalak and Impalak's wife. Since then Intobu come live together Impalak and Impalak's wife. And they lived happily ever after.

Month by month had passed, but impalak had changed so much. She became more up because of his wealth. Every night he got drunk. He also be dared for cheating with another woman. But nobody knew.
One day his wife was suspicious with impalak, he went after impalak in quiet down. He was surprised by what happened. Impalak betrayed her. Exactly it made his wife sad. And it was known by his father in law. Impalak was finally expelled by him .
Impalak was traveling alone, impalak had nothing left. Again, he was being poor. He was really regretful because he forgot his promise to his father, intobu . He was regretful he was blind because of his wealth.
So, He decided to return to his village up. Sadly, there was a storm , impalak boat hit a coral and reversed. But all people lived. Impalak was trying to swim to the port. He arrived to the port and he was unconscious.
After he was conscious, he was in a house. He saw a person who seems to his father. Surely the person whom he saw was Intobu, his father. Intobu helped him and bring him to their house.
He was very happy. He hugged his father and apologized. Impalak told his father what he experienced. And Intobu forgave him. Finally they lived happily ever after.
The Bagga left Intobu.Intobu just smiled and go home.Arrived home,Impalak said a little pray to God to gave his son a refer,for returned to goodpath.
ReplyDeleteAfter two days,the Bagga arrived a unknown Island,not too far from beach line central Sulawesi.Impalak was very being happy,cause in his minds,the island can gave many richer to him.The Bagga drawed in beach,and suddenly,many pirates force to Bagga.They took many things in there and killed Impalaks Bagga crew.Just Impalak and his wife was safe.
They hidened in behind big stone,they breaked for someday.Without food supplied.At the thjird days,they saw a small boat,closed by beach.They was very happy.Impalak and his wife ran into the small boat,and asked to the fisherman to safed them.Impalak was surprised,because the fisherman is his father.Impalak asked apologyze to his father for his bad treatment.And Intobu forgive him.They go home together and life happiness forever.

one day, impalak's wife was pregnant. Impalak very pampering his wife. at lunch, impalak's wife told impalak. "Every night I always dream of an old man who had met with us," said impalak wife. "Hmmm, do not think he needs to go to anyone" said impalak.
the next day, impalak's wife screaming in pain. then impalak called baby shaman. After review, the baby shaman says that impalak wife's miscarriage. Impalak trying to calm his wife ' last night i return dreaming the old man again. He actually who? please tell me, i will not angry, this for the good of us. ' said impalak wife. “ in fact, he is my father, i don ' t admit it because i am afraid you angry with me.” Said impalak. “why should be so, i love you, i do not need your riches, because treasure not brought dead, i love you how did your situation, let ' s go back to the village you, we apologize to your father.” Said impalak's wife.
After that they both went to the village. He meets intobu who was fixing a fence of his home. “forgive me father '. the word impalak. ' well, I forgive, God just forgave his people, never mind I just a small servant.” Said intobu.
After that impalak invited intobu to live at his home in the city. Two years later impalak's wife gave birth to baby twins. and finally they all live happily.

ReplyDeleteImpalak and his wife were rich. Although they were rich they never being happy because both of them were boast of their wealth and they always felt lacked. They were very arrogant. They never gave their wealth to the others whose needed. Untill all of they wealth were gone.
Impalak and his wife become poor. Impalak recognized his mistakes to his father. Then he comeback to the village and met his father
“Dad, I’m so sorry, I’ve forgotten you and all of my promise” Said Impalak
“No matter my dearest Son, I know the wealth can make every person become arrogant. The most important things are you’ve recognized your mistakes.” Said Intobu
“Thanks my dad, I promise that I’ll never do the same way”
Impalak and his wife continues their life in the village. Although their life were simple they always gratitude. They work very hard untill they can bought new Bagga. They never forget to gave their few wealth to the others whose needed. They happily ever after.

One day, Impalak got word that his father is very ill. despite that, he still does not care about his father's condition. impalak not know that his wife had menegetahui that Impalak still have a father who was away there.
When they talk, impalak wife said to her husband that "I want to meet my in-laws!"
impalak replied "I do not have parents anymore, I'm an orphan!"
"Do not lie to me again, my husband. I already know everything that your father is still there, and now are sick, are not you sorry??"
"But, why do you know my wife??" said Impalak
"I do not need to answer. Bagga I want to go!" Impalak wife said.
Every few days, Impalak and his wife went to my hometown to visit my father Impalak impalak. not long after they arrived, and the people around him in surprise and one resident ran separately notify Intobu that Impalak is back. Intobu very glad to hear it turned out Imolak not forgotten his promise to Intobu.
But Intobu can not see his son. because they can not run like he used to. Impalak and shortly afterwards his wife came, Intobu very excited. see the state of his father's, Impalak guilty to his father who had loved her and took care of the minor with a vengeance. Impalak then hugged his father and apologized for wasting his father. and impalak proud wife has had to live with it himself.
Ultimately, Intobu, Impalak and his wife returned to the city and live together happily forever and always harmonious.

Impalak’s dream really came true he was a rich man and he had a big bagga ! because he merried with owner’s daughter several years passed. He had forgotten his promise to his father. Intobu always looked for him but he never found he son.
One day imapalak’s wife to take along impalak to impalak’s home town he was right and impala was there !!
