Folklore from Central Sulawesi
ONCE upon a time in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, lived a man with his son in a hut.
The man’s name was Intobu and his son’s name was Impalak. Intobu’s wife passed away when Impalak was a baby.
Impalak was a diligent and obedient son. Intobu and Impalak were fishermen and they were poor. They did not have a big ship to go fishing. They only used a small sampan. They really wanted to have a big ship so they could have a lot of fish. The local people there named the
big ship as bagga.
Impalak wanted to be rich. He asked permission from his father to leave him to fi nd better life. Though it was very diffi cult, his father let him go. Impalak promised to his father that he would come back after he was rich.
Impalak went to a port. He saw a bagga. He came to the owner and said, “May I join you to sail in your bagga? I will work hard, Sir,” said Impalak.
The owner agreed. He let Impalak join his bagga. Impalak was happy. His dream to be a rich man would soon come true.
Impalak worked very hard. The bagga’s owner was very happy with him. Impalak was also skillful in fi shing. After Impalak joined, they always got a lot of fish.
The bagga’s owner planned to ask Impalak to marry his daughter. So when they arrived in the bagga’s owner place, they held a wedding. Impalak’s dream really came true. He was a rich man and he had a big bagga!
Several years had passed, but Impalak never returned home. Sadly he already forgot his promise to his father.
In the mean time, Impalak’s father, Intobu, always thought of his son. Everyday he went to the port. Whenever a bagga came, he always looked for him. But he never found his son.
One day Impalak’s wife asked Impalak to sail in his bagga. Stormed attacked and it accidentally arrived in Impalak’s hometown.
Intobu saw a big bagga. He felt that Impalak was inside the bagga. And he was right! Impalak was there!
“Impalak? Impalak?“ said his father.
“I’m your father!”
“Who is that old man?” asked Impalak’s wife.
“I don’t know. Maybe he is just an old crazy man,” said Impalak.
Actually he recognized his father. But he was ashamed with his wife.
“Go away, you crazy man! You are not my father!” said Impalak.
“Impalak?. Wait for me!” Intobu rowed his sampan. He wanted to meet his son.
However, Impalak asked his crew to leave. They left Intobu.
Intobu was very sad. He knew Impalak had already forgotten him. He prayed to God to punish him.Again storm attacked Impalak’s bagga. This time it was very hard. Finally the bagga was stranded. Slowly the bagga turned into a big stone. Until now the stone is still in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi. People named the stone as Bagga Stone.

In the bagga, Impalak pensive and felt guilty. His wife asked " Are you okey? Is there a problem ?" Impalak replied " No, I'm fine."
At home Impalak pray that he regretted his actions and pleaded with God to keep his father, Intobu. When Impalak praying, his wife heard the prayer Impalak. Impalak wife was shocked and went to tell the truth.
The next day, Impalak and his wife went to the village, home's Intobu. Intobu suprised by their arrival. they apologized for his words yesterday. Intobu also forgive him. Impalak and his wife took their lives together. Impalak familieswere living happily.

Intobu was very sad because Impalak had already forgotten him. But deep inside, he sure that Impalak still recognized him but he was ashamed of him. He pray to god, “oh God, forgive my son. If he still remember me, realize him that he had do wrong. Don’t let him be a rebellious son!”
Meanwhile, Impalak still think of his father. He shamed to recognized Intobu, but in other side he miss his father very much and he remember about his promises. After that, Impalak’s wife come. She understood what was on Impalak’s mine. She said, “Are you sure he is just a crazy old man? I look he is very loving you”. Finally, Impalak recognized that the old man was his father but he was ashamed. Impalak’s wife side, “Why you are ashame? He is your father though. He is just a poor and old man. So, come back and say sorry before you regret. Impalak quickly asked his crew to come back to Impalak’s hometown.
When he arrived, he saw Intobu still stood over there. Impalak quickly come to his father and he was sorry to him. Intobu forgave his son. He was very happy. Finally, Impalak, Intobu and Impalak’s wife back to Impalak’s wife hometown. Intobu was not poor again, they lived together and they were very happy.

impalak father was very worried about her condition for years meninggalkannya.setiap day harbor him back and forth, each time he came over to Bagga, but he did not menemukannya.pada impalak one day and his wife came to the village implak to see his father, because he tela promised to meet her father when she was rich.
on one occasion Bagga come and lean in the harbor, and went up to intobu Bagga, and this time found impalak intobu

"my son .. my son ... haii ... this impalak your father"

Bagga impalak came down from his father and hugged her tightly and introduced his wife, who has been married to his father.

intobu was very pleased and proud to see his son succeed and not forgetting wherehe was born and reborn.

Impalak looking intobu located along the sea coast near his home. impalak was standing directly in front of intobu. intobu surprised by the presence of impalak coupling a woman. Then impalak asked about the news intobu far. He also recounts his successes and his wife who brought before his father. Then impalak invite intobu to stay with him. intobu agrees with the happy faces. finally they live together and live happily.

After them marriage Impalak remember about a neighborhood this family in village. And he is very hand in with own preciously for he’s wife. But when Impalak want a hones to a he’s wife, he is scary wife and he’s father in law will be hate to him. Because he already to them, and finally Impalak cancel a this want.
Every time, Impalak visited he’s father without knowed wife and his father in law. To arrive, he is very happy because he is meet with his family. After long time, not ameet. But suddenly, there are a someone know to Impalakand reportto the his father in law.
To arrive Impalak in the home, wife and his father in law very angry and disappointed because they feel alie by Impalak. Impalak is very surprise who the know. And Impalak to try a clear to them about the real of happened. Impalak say “last, I’am lie about neighborhood my parents but I’am aware happy not is perfect without them.
Already long I want say o real of happened but I scary u will hate me. But now, I’am ware my attitude is wrong. I’am submit if*u will hate me. “I’am happy you are honest, and I’am happy because I will meet with my parent’s in law. Come they to here. The happy will be perfect with them” say his wife of Impalak.
This time, Impalak is very surprise to hear saying of this wife. Impalak is very happy, but Impalak is very sad why didn’t last he a honest to them. If finally wife and his father in law accept a his family is a poor.
Next time, Impalak and his wife go to the village and meet with his father. He similar to his father for stay together in new house them.

One day,in the night Impalak couldn’t sleep.He thought about his words to her father ,Intobu.He was fell so wrong.He reallized ,that Intobu was his father, he had became a rebellious son.
Next morning, Impalak went to Toli-toli to the beach seam where he had meet with Intobu . He called name his father with screamed “Daddy....daddy....”.And finally Intobu was came to there.
“My father,sorry with my words yesterday I’m so be sorry,will you go with me father? Move to town, to my new house ,and walk on to new life .”said Impalak.
“Yes ,I will my son,I’m so miss you,and I’m so proud with you ,when I see you like that.”
Finally Impalak and Intobu became a happy family ever after.

Father's Love of All Time
Intobu prayed to God that Impalak realized that he was wrong. Intobu want Impalak be protected from any harm, although his son did not recognize his father. But he remains the only child they have. Storm the ship was attacked Impalak. Hit by waves of right and left side of the ship. Then Impalak also seek forgiveness, he kneeled down and said, "God forgive me, I was wrong. Wrong, God forgive me. I was too embarrassed to admit it, I'm sorry. I will not repeat that mistake, I beg forgiveness of God. "He was praying, crying, and immediately the storm was stopped. How a surprise Impalak, he was stranded in his hometown again. There are, his father who had became old with a wooden stick at his side. In his father approached and begged forgiveness. Impalak’s wife was surprised and asked "My husband, who is he?" Impalak replied "he is my father, I was ashamed to admit it but I could not." His wife smiled. He shook hands with Impalak’s father and told that she is the daughter in-law. Furthermore Impalak want to live with his father and his wife allowed. And they live in peace and prosperous.

The Story of Bagga
Impalak walked off his father. He wanted to go to his house again. He did not want if there were people know that the poor man was his father.
Meanwhile, Intobu was very sad and did not believe what Impalak did to him. He cried and praid to God : " Oh God, what had happened to my son? Why he had been so bad like this? Isn't he first promise to again to me? but God, any which he do, he is my so. I am very love him. Please, give him awareness and forgive all his sins, oh God !".
At home, Impalak was sleeping and dream uglyly. He dreamed that his effort which during the time running of experiencing of bankruptcy, his Bagga was sink. In his dream, he also saw his father was sick and followed to sink in his Bagga. His father asked to help but Impalak could not reach him. Impalak was very affraid and he wake up from his sleep. He was grateful in the reality all was only dream.
After experiencing of that nightmare, Impalak continued thinking, including thinking of his father. He gazed what have he do to his father. He was very penitent, sorrowful, and worry. Impalak worried about condition of his father "Is my father OK? Is my father angry to me?" All that was very disturb the mind of Impalak. One day, he heard news that there is an accident of Bagga at the sea near by residence of Impalak.
Hearing that news, Impalak immediately went to the sea with his Bagga. At the sea, he saw his father reside on the Bagga that almost sink. Lucky of it, Impalak came on time. Immediately passenger of Bagga that almost sink moved to Bagga property of Impalak, including his father. Knowing that, Intobu was very happy in the reality Impalak didn’t forget him. After seeing his father, Impalak felt moved emotionally and happy. He drew near his father and embraced his father. He cried and said : " Father, I apologize. I make a mistake have made sorrowful you "
" I have forgiven you from first, my son ", said Intobu.
" To redeem all my mistake, will father follow to remain with me and work the effort Bagga with me?", requested Impalak.
Intobu agreed request of his son.
With run of time, effort which they did progressively expand. Because effort that Bagga, they had initiative to renovate house of Impalak become a palace of Bagga. And finally they lived happy with Impalak’s wife and family of Impalak’s wife. Until now, Palace of Bagga that still stand up sturdy in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi and became a musem by local resident.

intobu was very sad. Knew he had already forgotten him impalak. But at heart he is still very much in love, and love impalak as her son.
Intobu home with great sadness. When we reached the hut he said to God to forgive impalak and resuscitate him back to the toli-toli.
To the next day, the sea filled with thick fog, the wind was blowing. Lightning struck the middle of the ocean. Large ships and even then wobbled, intobu wake the sleeping with shock and she said "what happened? What happened? "But no one answered, because the pseudo-busy people to save themselves, a very large storm, a storm larger than before. Then the big ship that capsized and sank, the ship slowly into rock on the seabed.
Impalak, wife, and crew adrift floating in the sea for days and finally they were stranded in toli-toli, impalak hometown.
Intobu very surprised when I saw a boy with his wife on the beach in a state of unconsciousness, then intobu bring them both into his hut and take care of him until cured.

Impalak's Dream
Once upon a time in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, a child lived with his father. He named Intobu, his son named intobu and impalak. They were a poor family. Because they were a poor, impalak and his father have always lived in sadness.
And one day, Impalak said to his father to went abroaded, because he could not stand the life that was always in poverty. He promised his father to return after the wealthy. When impalak was in port, he met with someone who was arriving on the ship, and Impalak want to worked with him. And the person was willing to hire him. Impalak always worked hard and always pray to God that his life changed. Time was elapsed. And then, Impalak met his girlfriend and they got married.
A few years later impalak life has changed, he was now a wealthy man with his wife. However impalak forgot his promise to his father. One night he dreamed, in her dream she saw her father worked hard to work full sadness. By impalak’s dreams, he remembered that his father and their struggle in changing his fate. Now he realized his life had changed.
The next day he took his wife to return to his hometown to met his father. Once they were in the village, they immediately looked for his father's house. And direct Impalak eyes fixed on a small hut, there appear the figure of his father, who was sitting lost in thought.Impalak and say "Daddy ...".
"Are you my father Intobu, this son Impalak". They immediately hugged up to do between a boy and his father who has been separated for many years. Impalak then introduced his wife and asked her father to live with them. Finally now Intobu and Impalak and his wife lived happily together.

After abuse and leaved his father, Impalak back to sail. He was so confused and ashame about that incident. In the Bagga he always mused and his wife always asked to him who that guy. But Impalak still didn’t give her answer.
One day, wife of Impalak suddenly asked to Impalak,
“ Who that the old man, Impalak ? “
“ He was a crazy man and admitted to be my father don’t think about that man again alright “
“ If he just a crazy man why after you met him you be different man ? “ add Impalak’s wife.
“ Stop it, why we are talking about him. He was nothing and not our bussiness. “ said Impalak.

Heared his wife say that to him, Impalak began think. He didn’t want like Malin Kundang but he still can’t told the truth to his wife. When he thinked, he saw a boy make doodles on his Bagga. He was so angry and walked to the boy.
“ Hey Boy, what are you doing there ? don’t foul this Bagga ” Impalak’s word make him afraid and run to the old man.
“ Hey wait, where are you going ? bad boy stop there ! who is your father ? “ with walked to the that boy. But there is a old man protect him in his back.
“ I’m so sorry Mr.! He is still boy I’m so sorrry this my fould I’m not take care him carefully “said the old man.
“ So, this is your son ? said to him this a big Bagga and so expensive, what you want pay for this damage ? “ answered Impalak.
“ Yes Mr. I really sorry to you I promise I will take care him more carefull “said the old man.
“ Yeah, that is a father, although his son make him hard he still can forgive and protect him “said Impalak’s wife suddenly.
Know his wife came, Impalak went to his room he start thinked and realize what he had do long time to his father. In the tomorrow, Impalak said the trhully to his wife that the old man they met in harbor some days later was his father. Heard that Impalak’s wife was so relieved and happy because her husband can be honest to her.
And than Impalak and his wife came to the Impalak’s home tawn and they hope they can met again with Impalak’s father.
In another side, Intobu pray to God for realize his son because he very loved Impalak. Every single day Intobu was always waiting for Impalak came in harbor. But he never saw him again. One day when he was start give up wait for Impalak, the big Bagga came to the harbor, looked that Intobu was so sureprise that the man who came from the Bagga was Impalak his son. Finally, Impalak say sorry to his father and promise he will brought his father with hin to the city. And than they hug for a moment and they live together again like before happifully ever after.

The Miracle Father’s Love
He prayed to god to make him realize about what Impalak did it’s wrong.
In the night, Impalak was dream a strange about his father, he came and said to curse and he prayed to god to punishment him. Impalak was afraid about his dream but he tried not to care about it.
On the next week Impalak’s wife got ill, it’s very hard. Impalak was apprehensive about his wife, he seek medicinal treatment for his wife but no one it can be cure her until one day when Impalak seek medicinal on other place he met someone who he know but Impalak forgot who is he?
Someone said if he wanted to make his wife healty again, he must forgive about all mistakes was he did. Impalak was confused, it’s not to real but in the time Impalak reminded his dream and quickly come to his house. In the house he told what a truly happened for the Bagga’s owner and his wife, they was suprised. Impalak knew if he made his wife and parents in law disspointmen, but he wanted to said a truly fact about who is his father? When he ever lie about him. The Bagga’s owner wanted to Impalak goes to his father and forgiving what he did for his father.
In a front of hut Intobu saw his son. “Impalak, what are you did?” said intobu.”Dad, forgive me! Forgive me about my mistakes,” Impalak said “ I was regret about my promise, sorry dad.” Impalak cried on his father’s legs. Intobu was hug his son and said if he proud about him, he was very missing about him and Impalak knew his father always loved him. Then, Impalak told about his wife and invited his father to came in his houses to be know his wife and his parents in law.
Impalak’s wife and her father to be happy when Intobu came, Impalak’s wife said sorry about a moment in the bagga. After that, her condition become better. The Bagga’s owner was happy, He made celebration for recovery his daughter and introduce Intobu as Impalak’s father. In the last moment Impalak resolved to lived together with his father again, and they lived happily ever after.

Impalak so confused. “I will say honest to you. Yeah, he is my father”. Then Impalak’s wife ask with soft spoken “Impalak why you not recognized him. Areyou know that blessing of parents is blessing of God?”. “Yeah I know it, but do you not shamed haved parent in law like a my father?”. Ask Impalak. “Why me must shamed, you should thanked to his father cause blesssing prayed of your father, you can like this”. Sharpness. And then they decided come back to Tolitoli.
In village, they search Intobu. They ask to society where is Intobu. And then he meeting with Intobu. Impalak hugging Intobu and said “Father,forgive me. I am wrong ” Intobu cried and said “Sure, I am always forgive you son. Oh God, thank’s for all”. He felt happily. “Who is she?”. Ask Intobu to Impalak when he seen a girl beside him. “She is my wife”.Reply Impalak. “ Oh, my son you last married”. ”Yeah”. “I am impalak’s wife. Are you sure to live with us”. Ask Impalak’s wife. “Yeah, I am sure”. And then they live in city. They lived happily forever.

Once upon a time in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, lived a man with his son in a hut. The man’s name was Intobu and his son’s name was Impalak. Intobu’s wife passed away when Impalak was a baby. Impalak was a diligent and obedient son. Intobu and Impalak were fishermen and they were poor. They did not have a big boat to go fishing. They only used a small sampan. They really wanted to have a big boat so that they could catch a lot of fish. The local people there named the big boat as bagga.
Impalak wanted to be rich. He asked permission from his father to leave the village to find a better life. Though it was very difficult, his father let him go. Impalak promised to his father that he would come back after he was rich.
When Impalak went to a port, he saw a bagga. He came to the owner and said, ”May I join you to sail in your bagga? I will work hard, sir,” said Impalak. The owner agreed. He let Impalak join his bagga. Impalak was happy. His dream to be a rich man would soon come true. Impalak worked very hard. The bagga’s owner was very happy with him. Impalak was also skillful in fishing. After Impalak joined, they always caught a lot of fish.
The bagga’s owner planned to ask Impalak to marry his daughter. So when they arrived in the bagga’s owner’s place, they held a wedding. Impalak’s dream really come true. He was a rich man and he had a big bagga!
Several years passed, but Impalak never returned home. One time Impalak remembered the poor father who lives in the village. The next day, along with his wife Impalak went to his hometown to meet his father who had long been abandoned.
When set foot in his hometown sense of longing for the father, Intobu, so powerful burst into his mind. Impalak so excited to meet her father. And when the father and son met as seen in their compassion.
"Did you Impalak my son?" asked Intobu.
"Yes Dad, it's true I Impalak, son," said Impalak.
"Oh my God, is this a dream? My son, I miss yo," said Intobu.
"I really miss you my father .. I'm sorry to have to leave you alone here," said Impalak.
"The beautiful woman who's behind you, Impalak?" askedIntobu.
"Oh, sorry I forgot to introduce her father to you, this is my wife's father. We were married five years ago," said Impalak.
"You are very beautiful daughter in-law," said Intobu.
"Thank you father-in-law," said Impalak’s wife.
After talking for a long time and remove the desire, dusk had looked upon them. Impalak decided to stay at home father. Intobu has been dormant since their conversation stopped an hour ago. Suddenly Impalak’s wife suggested something.
"Honey, what if your father to come with us tomorrow?" she asked.
"Come to our place?" Impalak asked.
"Yes, I'm sorry to see live alone here," she said.
"What'll I'm going to agree?" Impalak asked.
"If the problem let me talk to your father," said the Impalak’s wife.
"All right, then up to you. Now we sleep the night has come," said Impalak.
The next day, the Impalak’s wife convey what has been talking about last night with Impalak.
"My father-in-law, I and Impalk intend to invite father-in-law lives with us in place. Will's father-in-law to come with us?" she asked.
"I do not want to bother you and Impalak, dad still live here," said Intobu.
"Impalak not bear to see my father lived here alone, my father should come with us," said Impalak.
"We are pleased that the father would come with us," said the Impalak’s wife.
"Well, if that's what you want, Dad would come with you and stay with you," said Intobu.
"Thanks Dad," said Impalak Impalak and wife.
Impalak’s wife embraced Impalak for being so happy. And finally, Intobu live in the residence Impalak and his wife. They live happily ever after.
IMPALAK’S LIFE

After that at night, he dreamt if his father cursed him to be stone. The first, he ignored about his dream. But, at second night that dream repeat again. And Impalak began felt restless about his dream. He told his dream to his wife.
He said, “ Honey, last night I dreamt if my father cursed me to be stone and it happened for two night.”
His wife answered,”If the old man was your father, came back and apologized to him. Invited him to lifed in here.”
But, Impalak ignored about advice to his wife. And night, he dreamt it again. He began felt afraid if that dream to be a fact. He began to thought about advice to his wife.
Finally, he cut off to came back and apologized to his father. And his father forgiveness. And they life happily ever after together.

HAPPY ENDING OF “BAGGA STONE” STORY
He is very grateful to God, as all dreams come true so soon. In addition to thanking God, he was reminded of his promise to his father before him. Namely, he promised that when he won success in the city, he would return to his home in the village to improve their lives with her father first.
To improve his promise, without thinking he took his wife to return to the village. But he wanted to surprise his father. O He first told his father that he would go home. With happiness he returned to the village with his wife. He did not wait to meet her father, Intobu.
One day, when about to go fishing Intobu he was very surprised. He sees the traditional musical instruments in his home Sulawesi. Intobu is a lover of the instrument, but he could never afford it. In addition to musical instruments, the house was filled with furniture such as desks, chairs, and others. In addition, many foods are also available.
He was more confused than where it comes from all that. Degan is still be wildered face slowly he left home to go fishing. Arriving at the edge of the sea, she is surprised because in front there is a big ship and on the screen it says "Dad, I'm back for you". He began to approach the ship. And intobu increasingly moved, turned out in large vessels that come out of a handsome man and his wife headed Intobu. "Impalak, is it you?" Asked Intobu. "Yes dad, it's me, and introduce my wife," replied Impalak. Intobu tearfully hugged Impalak because he still remembered. Finally intobu invited Impalak and his wife to his home.
A year later, Impalak’s wife give birth her son. Impalak and Intobu was happy too. And than Impalak and his wife invited Intobu to stayed at their home in the city. So, they lived happily and never end.
